King.com the global skill gaming site tops list with revenue growth of 20,900% between 2003-5
London, March 27th 2007: Investment Bank GP Bullhound announced this evening the 50 fastest growing digital media companies in the UK at their annual Media Momentum awards at Sketch, held in association with Sky Media, Barclays and Olswang. Additional awards were given to 5 companies demonstrating exceptional growth potential and management.
The list is recognised by the industry as covering the best known companies in the digital media industry with previous winners including Betfair and Espotting. The top 50 companies in this year's list have collectively grown their revenue base from £139m to a staggering £453m in a two year period.
Ranked according to revenue growth rates between 2003-2005, King.com emerged in pole position - as the fastest growing and most dynamic media company in the UK with reported growth of 20,900%. King.com is one of the world's largest skill gaming sites. Every month it hosts more than 40m games for millions of players from more than 50 countries. The remaining top 5 fastest growing companies in descending order of revenue growth were OTPmedia (5,711%), Ad.IQ (4,278%), Kontraband (1,660%) and Gamesys (1,511%).
The panel of industry experts who select the companies demonstrating exceptional growth potential and management includes Anil Hansjee, Head of M&A Google Europe, Seb Bishop, President of Miva and co founder of Espotting and Michael Nutley editor of New Media Age.
This year, the Judges award went to Skinkers who has developed the first universal push platform for multi-channel messaging and content delivery. Overall the judges felt that the Skinkers' management team, offering and vision for the future, made the company a worthy winner of the coveted Judges' Award for 2007.
Kontraband, one of the Internet's premier resources for video entertainment, gaming and humour, won the award for Uniqueness of Offering. The award for Vision and Future Growth Potential went to Shazam Entertainment who has one of the most accurate and fastest music recognition services in the world. Opera Interactive Technology Group, a leading solutions provider for the interactive media sector, won the award for Best Management team, for consistently delivering exceptional growth.
